Stephen Colbert promotes “BING” for charity (Video)

by Kieran on June 9, 2010

The Colbert Report has always been one of my favorite shows – the combination of political satire and Stephen’s character acting is unmatched. One part of the show that I have always loved has been their creative use of integrated product placements. Stephen always seems to be able to not only promote, but make fun of, the brands that are paying him a large sum of money.

Earlier this week Stephen did another product promotion, this time with the goal of raising money for the on-going oil spill clean up efforts. As you can see from the below video clip Stephen is given $2,500 each time he uses the word “BING” – Microsoft’s fledgling search engine. Smart move by Microsoft – getting in front of young adults and being associated with a worthy cause at the top of everyone’s mind is a win-win. If only Stephen passed on the “I Google’d Bing to find out what it was” joke.
